Collapsible 1/4 Wave Ground Plane Antenna

Browsing through antennas available for purchase and others home built antenna's I discovered the 1/4 wave ground plane antenna.
Unfortunately I could not find any that were collapsible or otherwise field portable. So to stave off boredom I decided to make my own.

Currently the antenna is a prototype and still needs tuning, though it should be quite good at VHF transmissions (Perfect for all of the local repeaters.)
Once I get my Foundation radio operators licence I will be able to test the antenna myself, but for now my housemate has given it a quick run through.
He assures me it has great gain but may need some tuning (Alas, I have loaned my SWR meter to a friend who lives regional, so cannot test this.)
I have also run a test on the end caps with integrated lights and can confirm that the radials do not put out enough power where the LED lights are installed to damage them, Quite the boon to me as these both look cool and prevent accidentally walking into the antenna at night.
Here is a picture of the prototype assembled and mounted to a DIY tripod mast.
